Control Paspalum - Treatment

What does Paspalum look like and how to control it?
 

Paspalum is along lived clumping grass that has managed to naturalise itself in open pastures, footpaths, roadsides and gardens.

It has fine foliage up to eight centimetres and can flower to over one and half metres high. Thickets of this invasive species can easily invade native bushland and smother out vulnerable native species

Paspalum is widely regarded as a major environmental weed in most Australian states

Recognising paspalum weed

The seed heads of this species are mostly recognised with tassels arranged in loose clusters and are pendulous in nature. This species self-seeds voraciously and clumps are difficult to eradicate once fully established. 

How to control paspalum weed

Control can be done by using selected herbicides as a foliar spray, slashing and mowing, complete physical removal of individual clumps and seasonal grazing by livestock such as goats.
